Blog two-
Today was the first day that I have ever worked on a construction sight and with the st. B volunteer organization. My favorite part of the day was hearing the story of John Jackson, one of the survivors of hurricane Katrina. It is so amazing to hear first hand what the struggles were and how he survived through that treacherous storm. It really put my life into perspective, compared to those who lost so much in New Orleans. After that the actual volunteer work was a lot different than I thought it would be. For some reason I'm abnormally.bad at mudding and other normal things that are necessary to build a house. Be that as is may, I am trying to improve and since I suck so much there's no where to go but up for me. Even though it was difficult, I actually really enjoyed the work. It was fun and a great bonding experience. Another aspect of the trip I have enjoyed is the scavenger hunt. I was able to explore the city, meet the people, and even joined a jazz band for a quick minute. It was so fun to meet all of the unique and crazy people in this beautiful city. I look forward to doing and experiencing more.
