Pre Blog-
I expect service to be very fun in New Orleans. I've never built houses or done this type of work before but I think that it will be an enriching and educational experience. I think coming to such a cultural and significant landmark is very exciting, especially because I have never visited New Orleans or Louisiana before. I am so interested and happy that I am able to visit bourbon street and truly get to see all aspects of the culture of this great city, and have a great time touring.  In contrast With that I also think this trip will be very humbling and honestly quite sad. Though New Orleans is known for its fun and flamboyant ways, hurricane Katrina was such a detriment and literally tore this city apart. I'm glad I'm able to help with the rebuilding of this city, but learning about how many people died, and all that was lost is so eye opening and upsetting. So far I've experienced the twenty plus hour car ride, and the first day of the trip, but am excited for what's to come. I think this volunteering will be a great bounding experience and also a great life experience. I can't wait for the rest of the week!
