An early start Monday included an orientation at the St. Bernard Project where a guest speaker talked about his experiences with the project. After receiving our house assignment, we quickly jumped into the vans to head to Baccich Street. Our house was in need of mudding! Our leaders Ashlyn and David taught us the skills needed and sent us on our way. By the end of the day my "peace fingers" we're killing me from holding the mud knife! After working, we were fortunate enough to return back to the French Quarter, where I made some lasting friendships with my fellow Bonners.
This morning, we came back and inspected our work from the day prior. Then, we grabbed masks, goggles, and sanders and sanded over all of the work we completed yesterday. After lunch, we began mudding again. I was able to mud an entire walk-in-closet by myself! After a long days work, a few Bonners decided to go to a New Orleans Pelicans game. While they were down most of the game, they made a comeback and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-99! I was an amazing experience because I have never been to an NBA game before!
Overall I am loving the city, the people, the culture, the food and the new friends I am making along the way. I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us! Bonner love!!!
